Este libro recoge las contribuciones realizadas al Seminario Doctoral sobre Paz y valores europeos como posible modelo de integración y progreso en un mundo global organizado en el Real Monasterio de Yuste, sede de la Fundación Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste, en Cuacos de Yuste, España, entre el 24 y 26 de julio de 2017. Los contenidos de este volumen cubren diferentes áreas de investigación, entre las cuales se observan las líneas propuestas en el titulo, a saber, el modelo y los valores europeos en un mundo global. Una mayoría de artículos se articulan en torno a las políticas internas de la UE; la propia génesis de los valores Europeos; el papel de las becas Erasmus en la internacionalización de la educación superior; la participación juvenil en el Derecho de la UE; los derechos religiosos en la UE; la preservación de las fronteras exteriores; la política de memoria histórica de la UE; la proyección exterior; o el concepto de Europa desde una visión crítica periférica.This book includes the contributions to the Doctoral Seminar on Peace and European Values as a potential model for integration and progress in a global world held at the Royal Monastery of Yuste, Headquarters of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, in Cuacos de Yuste, Spain from 24th to 26th July 2017. The contents of this volume cover different areas of research, among which we find the lines proposed in its title, namely the European model and values in a global world. This is a book about what we consider normal. It details how the very concept of normality emerged in the modern era, and how it has changed over the centuries. By the mid-twentieth century, the expansion of norms across various areas of human endeavour generated a governing normative order in Western societies. Normality was defined as conformity with a narrow model of conventional human behaviour. However, this model has since been displaced by an anti-conformism, in which normality is defined as absolute self-fulfilment, defying older restrictions on our behaviour. Paradoxically, absolute individualism and rebellion against conformity have become compulsory. This book explores in detail how this new normative order plays out today in the arenas of politics, health, and sex and sexuality. In all these areas, the uncompromising perfectionism of our norms of self-expression leads to increasingly deep-seated and ubiquitous anger, anxiety, and dissatisfaction.
